Concert Week!!!

Hello 1C Families,

We are so excited that our fall music concert will be this week!! Your students have been working so hard and it's been a lot of fun to watch as they have learned, practiced and are now performing. It will be a wonderful concert and I can't wait to watch them. I've copied and pasted the concert details, from Mrs. Boswell's blog. Please take note of the important information for concert night.

Our MANDATORY Music Concert for the first semester is a week from today!!

When – Thursday, November 17th at 5:30 PM

Where – Archway Lincoln Gym

Call Time – 5 PM (All students should report to their classrooms)

Please follow the morning drop off procedure the night of the concert.
Teaching Assistants will be curb-side to help students exit their cars and make their way to the classrooms. Students will be able to get a quick drink and have a bathroom break before lining up to walk to the gym with their teachers.

After each grade level performs, they will exit to their classrooms.

Please wait until each grade (K-2) has performed to pick up your child.

All the K-2 students have been working hard to learn their music and they deserve a full audience. At the end of the K-2 concert, you may pick up your child from their classroom. If you have older students, please pick up your K-2 child so that they may sit with you during the 3-5 concert.

Your students have been working hard! They are very excited to show off for you.

We have finished our unit on Fairy Tales and the students took their booklets home today. Our next Literature selection will be Frog and Toad. Please send this in with your student as we will begin at the end of the week.
We have started to write more, in class, and for morning work they are now using their journals to write off of a prompt that I give to them. Each morning when they enter the room there is a writing prompt on the board that consists of a character, setting and a simple plot. They can write anything they like, as long as their story uses these three elements. They can then draw a picture to go with their story. The class seems to really enjoy this "free writing" and it expands their knowledge of writing and vocabulary as well as spelling.

We completed our very short math unit on shapes/geometry. We will begin measurement this week.

The Food Chain is being studied in science and we are diving deeper into ancient civilizations such as the Aztecs, Maya and Inca, in history.

We will be celebrating our virtue of Friendship on Tuesday, November 22. Mrs. Aberouette will be sending out the specifics and sign-ups for volunteers.

    Below are this week's phonograms.

    Have a wonderful week!

    Phonograms for Nov. 14-18
